JOURNAL:
Looking at our setlist... Damn, we start out alot of sets with Lights Out...
(note to self). Anyhow. This was our typical, drive to the venue, literally
throw our equipment onto the stage, carelessly set up, and whip through a
setlist. Traffic backups, Detours, and Navigation problems caused us to
nearly miss our set time. But we managed to make it. Jeff had prior
obligations, so Our friend, Ralph, whom played in a band called Just A
Thought filled in. It was very odd, looking over to my left while playing
and seeing some other man on the stage. I felt like I was cheating with my
wife. But It was a blast. Ralph was flawless. We quickly ended our set and
through our equipment into our cars in an attempt to see Two Stars Burning
Sun, who could be heard tearing it up, upstairs. There were alot of good
bands there. Disonnant, Downpoint, and Forge were all really good. Of
course, my personal favs Bloodlined Calligraphy were on hand to play while I
air-drummed and air-guitared along to my favorite tracks. (with two new ones
as well). But the band that I really wanted to see was Arizing. It's been
months since I've seen them, and barely heard any of their new material. I
was not disappointed. They took a slightly different musical direction with
the stuff that I was hearing, but it was still a great show. A great live
band, and great on record. This was to be our final show for a looooong
time.

JOURNAL:
Our feet quietly sunk into the artificial grass, and with each step our
hearts raced with anticipation of the big game. My eyes panned across the
field, the crowd was now on their feet chanting what sounded like my name.
This was it...
Flip that, Reverse it. (back to reality)...no. we're in a sports dome.
We actually set up our equipment on an indoor soccer field and played inside
a dome filled with air. Yeah. Bizarre. The sound was god-awful, and the air
couldn't be any muggier. The best thing about this show was that we watched
ISN'T IT YESTERDAY. wow... This was the first time i've seen 'em since
their roster change and inevitable requiem. They introduced samplers and
keyboards into the sound this time around, and good lord was it amazing.
Isn't It Yesterday is quite possibly the band that could save Michigan music
as we know it. yeah.
This was a good time. good time indeed. (I know I say this alot, but As the
Dust Settles were there, and they were the "whip" as usual). NOTE: I
purposely left out details about our confrontation with the socially inept
individual in-charge of the Sports Dome, for fear of being swallowed up by
his overbearing american pride and that orifice on his face that so many
have lost their lives to.

We have the worst timing in rock n' roll. Again, we show up just as the band

there's always a next time. (as I type this, Auto Pilot announces they are
going on a three month hiatus, DOH!) This was a fun show, simply
because of the fact that there were a handful of really great fans there,
and that's all that it takes to have a well receptive crowd. Thanks yo, and
Thanks Twizted Vision for making this show off the hook. I really like
playing this venue for some reason. I haven't quite figured it out yet. I'll

JOURNAL:
This was an experience like none other. I-DEFY has played well over one
hundred shows, and I have never see anything like this. We accepted a show
opportunity off a whim, and we should've stuck with our initial instinct and
declined. We were playing a familiar venue with unfamilar bands. We had no
idea we were about to rock out with a bunch of old school rock n' roll
bands. (when I type "old school", and mean OLD school). Everyone in the
place was red-faced and full of piss. As I took my initial entrance into the
venue I was taken back by the sound of smashing of guitars (in 4/4 time).
Not to mention, such instruments set aflame as the crowd of veteran rockers
threw there arms around their black-lip-liner clad girlfriends. I looked
down at the large black X's that adorned the tops of my hands, and I feared
for my life. The destruction ensued until the early hours of the morning
when we finally hit the stage. By then, the P.A. system was broken, so we
had no vocals. We decided to just play on regardless.

Another attempt at playing two shows in one day. The first of the two was in
Croswell at a lions hall that we've played a few times before. It was
at least 110 degrees in the hall, whether a band was playing or not, but
that's always to be expected. There was a band there called holding hannah,
the were an out of state band that really impressed me. Unfortunately, I
couldn't get over the fact that there's a GetUpKids song called "hannah hold
on", so I was distracted for much of their set. (okay, so i'm being
ridiculous). Actually I was distracted by SuperTramp. (but that's a story
for another time, another webpage). We of course ran behind schedule and
quickly snatched up our equipment after playing and raced to the next
show....(see above)

There was a free show with Auto Pilot and Forge in New Baltimore,
ForDireLifeSake were playing a few miles up the road, and the Mt. Clemens

at our show. But it didn't matter, because the 25+ people that WERE there
had the opportunity to check out a new up-and-coming band called Charlie

It was at this particular show that we attempted to play an unfinished song,
"song for the unsung". It's an instrumental song, but we never really
solidified an intro or outro. We played it anyways, just to try it out. It
was rough around the edges but we got through it. Sorry for those that had
to sit through that 5:30 minutes of awkwardness. Regardless, This show was
the best show I've seen in Port Huron, probably ever. (i was shocked to
learn that we set it up =). Two of my fav Michigan bands were on hand to
contribute to the rock. As the Dust Settles opened the show and impressed
the hell out of me, yet again. and Bloodlined Calligraphy whom are veterans
to this scene, completely blew me away. There album "Say Hi to the Bad guy"
is probably the best hardcore album I've heard in years, and there live show
is equally impressive. We had some out of state bands come out as well,
Burning Bridges whom we have played with in New York a few months ago worked the
crowd into a windmill frenzy. Nearly all of the members of i-defy were in
the pit for them, flailing about like wounded ducks. It was friggin' great.
Franklyn whom we played in Ohio the night before were also there. By the
looks of these guys, you wouldn't be able to tell how brutal this band is.
Their all mild-mannered individuals, but put an instrument in front of 'em,
and all hell breaks loose.

First off, On the way down to Akron (which SHOULD only take about 4 hours),
EVERYTHING went wrong. Semi's were exploding in front of us, cars where
parked in the middle of the freeways, dogs and cats having sex, it was basic
Armageddon. We made it about an hour behind schedule but just in time to hit
the stage. Surprisingly enough, There was quite alot of people there. AND
Weirdly enough, there were too many good bands there... talent wise. So
much, that it made the bands seem not so great, and sound the same. None the
less, there were pretty damn heavy, and pretty damn pissed off. Then there
were us. We stick out like a sore thumb at just about every show we
play nowadays, because we are neither heavy, technical, or full of
chugs. It's not that we're against it at all, it's just not our thing. It
was a cool show in the end. The bass drums were mic'd so damn good that Jim
threw in double-bass in every song. "There is that heavy enough for ya!".

Our chance to redeem ourselves after the pitiful performance at our previous
show was here. Collectively, I think we did just that. I don't know about
anyone else but I felt pretty redeemed. It turned out to be a great show at
the Grotto, all around. The First band was First Blood, playing their First
show (named after the First Rambo movie). I was unable to catch these guys,
but the folks that did, mentioned the liked what they heard. The Judas
Cliche, Death in Custody, and Not without Resistance played really good
sets. It was very cool to see Not without Resistance come from such a long
way, as well as Death In Custody (who played a really cool cover of Minor
Threat's "filler"). Speaking of which, I want to take this time to apologize
to any and all whom were offended by one of the our band members comments
regarding individuals whom weren't familiar with Minor Threat. Those
comments reflect the opinion of the individual and not of the band as a
whole. Now that that is out of the way, back to the show. As the Dust
Settles closed out the night. It was my first time seeing these guys as "As
the Dust Settles" and I was really impressed. The culmination of
musicianship, creativity and humor is truly a breath of fresh air for this
scene. All that in only 9 months of being a band. Not too shabby.

This was without-a-doubt our WORST performance as a band. We haven't had the
chance to all get together since our stint in the studio about a month ago.
So, needless to say, we were a bit rusty. (and when I say "a bit" I really
mean "A LOT".) The venue was really cool though, and the crowd was more than
generous. Riot and Outerdrive were super-nice to us as well, so even though
we forgot how to play our songs, it was a damn good night. Plus, we got to
relive our childhood and dominate the spine. (aka skateboard the half-pipe).
Some highlights (and lowlights) of the set where me totally forgetting how
to play the intro to 'incite' and the improvisation that followed, Jim
forgetting how to play 60% of our songs (intoxication, illegal drug usage,
lack of practice and lack of sleep are rumored factors), Brent tripping the
crowd over and over again with the microphone cord until he finally tripped
himself (by the way, it was Brent's Birthday too!), our former singer, Danny
Presley, singing 'hollow minds' with us and then riding a dolly down the
half pipe, Jim's cousin, Matt, drunkenly helping us out with 'move bitch',
and last but certainly not least, "spank the monkey" by riot in progress. 'nuff
said.

DAVE: We made to Newburgh, New York in about 6 hours from Maryland. We all
were excited about this show because we were supposed to be playing with
some pretty good bands. The show started off with a band called Trinity
Denied,
they were pretty good, more along the lines of hardcore meets nu-metal. The
next
band I didn't see cuz a few of us went and got food, but the third band was
called Black Ball, they were kind of rockabilly punk rock. We talked for a
while with their drummer, who was a really cool guy, who just happened to be
left handed and had a misfits tattoo on his forearm. (sorry I don't remember
your name dood!). Since there was ten bands playing I'm probably gonna
screw up the order of the bands that played, but I believe the forth band
was slugworth. These guys were awesome! We plan on playing more shows with
these guys, they'll be coming to Michigan to play with us sometime this
summer most likely. They're a mix of old school meets new school hardcore
with a pinch of dueling guitars. This is were my memory fails me, there was
a bunch of Thugrock hardcore bands who sounded a lot alike. They all sort of
blend in together to me. The one other band that stuck out to me was
Burning Bridges, these guys played some real hardcore, not to be confused
with the Thugrock that seems to be pretty popular in NY. I'm sorry, but that
tough guy stuff does nothing for me at all. We also plan on doing more shows
with Burning Bridges during the summer as well. Around ten o'clock we
started our
set and after three songs we were told that we could only play one more.
This irritated the hell out of me, but oh well at least we played I guess.
RYAN:
We were all pretty disappointed in this show. Our time slot was bumped at
least three times, so much that we were only allotted four songs.
Considering we drove from Maryland to this show (7 hours), I think we
should've been a little bit higher on the priority level for this show, but
I guess it's not wise to anger a TOUGH-GUY hardcore band, so THEY took
precedence. Though it was set up rather well, aside from the OVER-BOOKING
but that's something we come to expect from Hall Shows. But our whole
experience on the road was fun. Probably the most fun came from the actual
DRIVING. We met some super-cool people on the road, using Brent's bare-ass
and "the shocker" as ice-breakers. I'd like to say a big "Hello" to Naomi
and Jamie, who were nice enough to talk to us, despite our 'caveman'
demeanor. But, they understood that being in a van for hours and hours
causes the male gender to look for entertainment in even the most insidious
of places. And who could forget Jim's "I-wanna-live-like-i'm-in-Led-Zeppelin"
attitude on the road. No clean clothes, No showers, No toothbrushes, No
Sleep, No Toe-nail-clippers. Just rock. We are definately looking forward to
playing in these states again. But for right now, I'm really looking forward
to taking a break.

DAVE: Friday was the beginning of a very long day. We hopped in the van
around
noon and headed for Maryland. After about eight hours on the road we made
it to Frostburg Maryland, home of Gandulf's Pub. If you are ever in
Frostburg check out Gandulf's. I'm telling you this place has to be the
coolest bar I've ever been in! They have a badass restaurant with a huge
vegetarian selection, a really awesome vintage bar, and a game room where
the bands play. There were only two bands playing that night, Bloodbourne
and us. We ate some free food and hit the stage around 10:30 and played an
intense set, which in my opinion was one of our best performances to date.
Then Bloodbourne started their set. All I have to say is "watch out!" these
guys can rock! They're a mix of Hatebreed, Cold as Life and Pantera style.
The one thing that impressed me is that they had to contact their old
drummer the night of the show because their present drummer couldn't make it
and you couldn't even tell. Shit, if we don't practice for two weeks we're
in trouble. haha. Anyway, we hung out for a little while after the show then
hit the road for NY. We drove for about two hours and decided to stop and
get a hotel to get some rest for the trip to New York.
RYAN: I have to agree with Dave, Gandulf's pub is an amazing venue.
They treated us like we drove for 8 hours to get there. (which is good,
because we did). And Bloodbourne turned out to be quite a memorable band.
Teddy, the vocalist, was quite the entertainer, his drunken antics left us
with quite an impression. And the towns folk were really hospitable.
Actually, The whole Bloodbourne band was cool as hell. The hooked us up as
much as they possibly could. We plan on returning the favor sometime this
summer. Frostburg seemed like it was a city that was filled with fans of
Pantera and those whom lived through the movie, "Deliverance". A cultural
awakening to say the least. We love them, We love them all. And not just
because they had perty-mouths.

cool,
if you are into old school hardcore, then I suggest checking them out. Next
up were our friends As the Dust Settles, it's good to see these guys

around here, Jeah! Bringing some chaotic metalcore from PA was Robinson
who
played third, these guys have an intense live show and I hope they continue
to keep coming up here for shows. AND...........Showing up at the very last
minute, due to being pulled over by cops just around the corner from the

which was sped up a little more than usual. Following us were performances
was Till Death Do Us Part and The Standard Deviants. Both are
great bands who are from the Algonac area
that need to set up more shows in there cuz I can see a scene building up.
All in all, it was a really cool show, and we appreciate the invite to come
out and play.
RYAN: Yeah, This show was pretty intense. Algonac is one of my
favorite places to play, cuz usually I get to see alot of familiar faces. It
makes me feel welcome there. Plus, the Standard deviants played, and they
are super-cool. I hope they keep makin' cool original music, cuz damnit,

The first of many shows in 2003 (hopefully). This was one of those,

of. Our pals in Isn't It Yesterday gave us the good word that the Rock
Harbor Cafe was a great place to play. They weren't kidding. It's a movie
theater converted into a concert venue. It's absolutely amazing. Huge stage,
projection backdrop, laser lights, deafening soundsystem, stage lighting,
and freakin' FOG! (yeah, imagine how cool those monster rock kicks looked in
the midst of stage fog!) We looked like one of those REAL rock bands that
you see on the picture tube. And The staff was courteous, not to mention the
cool christian fella that set the show up. He ruled! Not only did he treat
us like rockstars, but he was really understanding when Brent
single-handedly destroyed two of the three microphones on stage. The turnout
could've been better, as so could our performance. Anyhow, After Isn't it
Yesterday made the women of Muskegeon Michigan swoon and finally pass out
from being rocked beyond all recognition, we went to the after party at a
